Sandia National Labs and Kirtland Air Force Base Joint Public Meeting

Public Meeting on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at 6:00pm at the Cesar Chavez Community Center, located off of Louisiana Blvd. and Kathryn.

This is a joint meeting between Sandia National Laboratories' Environmental Programs and Kirtland Air Force Base Environmental Restoration Program (ERP). Please come join us and help plan our future stewardship of the environment.

Citizens may review Air Force ERP documents at the Kirtland AFB Information Repository at the Central New Mexico Community College-Montoya Campus Library, 4700 Morris NE or by visiting the Kirtland AFB website at http://www.kirtland.af.mil in the Environmental Issues section for Public Records. CARLISLE TO BE CLOSED FROM NORTH OF COAL TO GARFIELD

Beginning at 8 p.m. on Sunday, March 27, 2011 and lasting for approximately 30-45 days (through approximately April 27-May 12, 2011) Carlisle Boulevard SE will be closed from north of Coal Avenue SE to south to Garfield Avenue SE in order for crews to install large storm drainage infrastructure in Carlisle.

This work will be done in two phases:

PHASE 1: Carlisle will be closed from south of Lead to north of Garfield. This phase is scheduled from approximately March 27-April 11, 2011. Garfield will remain open during this phase, but all commuters and non-local residents should use Girard Blvd. SE and Lead Avenue SE as detours.

PHASE 2: The intersection of Garfield and Carlisle will be closed from approximately April 12, 2011 until April 27, 2011 or until work is complete.

Crews will be working extended hours Monday-Friday, from approximately
7 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday. Additional evening or weekend hours may be required due to unforeseen circumstances.

ACCESS WILL BE MAINTAINED TO ALL LOCAL RESIDENCES AND BUSINESSES.

Motorists are asked to use an alternate route if possible, allow extra time to reach their destinations, exercise caution in the construction zone, and follow all signs.

BUS DETOUR MAP DURING CLOSURE OF CARLISLE


During the planned closure of Carlisle from north of Coal to Garfield, beginning March 28, 2011, Bus Route 16/18 “The Bug” will have a special detour:
Southbound busses:
Will head south on Carlisle, then east on Lead, then south on Hermosa, then west on Ridgecrest/Burton, the south on Carlisle.
Northbound busses:
Will head north on Carlisle, then west on Burton, then north on Amherst, then east on Lead, then north on Carlisle.
Temporary bus stops will be located just north of Garfield and just south of Lead on Amherst and on Hermosa. Regular bus stops located along Carlisle at Ridgecrest, between Garfield and Coal and south of Lead will be closed while construction is taking place on Carlisle.

International District Youth Health Day

The Duke City Health Ambassadors are happy to present the International District Youth Health Day- an opportunity for local youth to clean up their neighborhood and get community health resources.

The afternoon will include a park clean-up as well as resources and representatives from local health organizations.

All you need to bring is yourself and a commitment to healthy communities. Please come and spend a couple hours with us cleaning up the park!
