With the Community engaged all things can be accomplished.

Much needed Public Safety and Traffic Calming has been realized. Stop and see the many shops in the area - walk confidently, but look both ways. ENJOY!

We only need 150 more $5 qualifiying contributions, and 250 petition signatures!!!
We are trying to finish by May 19th, because my wife Ilsa and I will be leaving town for several days, and we don't want to leave any unfinished business.

Central and Morningside Traffic Light

The long awaited traffic light is being installed at Central and Morningside. This signal and crosswalk will make it safer for pedestrians to cross Central. The light will be operational within two weeks.

LEAD & COAL IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT LOOKING AHEAD: CONSTRUCTION UPDATE FOR WEEKS OF MAY 2-6, MAY 9-13 AND MAY 16-20, 2011


Creating beautifully landscaped, environmentally sensitive, neighborhood, bicycle and pedestrian friendly streets and improving storm drainage.
NOTE: All work is weather permitting and is subject to change without notice

IMPORTANT NOTICE: If construction is going on in your neighborhood, there may be brief water or gas outages while crews relocate lines or make adjustments as needed. If there is a planned water or gas shutoff that will affect you, construction crews will place a notice on your front door and will try to contact you by knocking on your front door. They will let you know when the outage is scheduled and how long it is expected to last.

TRAFFIC SWITCH AS OF MAY 1, 2011:
Beginning Sunday, May 1, 2011, Coal Avenue will open to two-way traffic from I-25 to University Blvd. and Lead Avenue will close to thru traffic between I-25 and University Blvd. (Local traffic will be allowed on Lead between I-25 and University.) IMPORTANT NOTICE: GIRARD TO BE CLOSED AT COAL FROM MAY 8-22, 2011:
Beginning Sunday, May 8, 2011, Girard Blvd. SE will be closed in the area of Girard and Coal Ave. SE for approximately 14 days for crews to replace the roadway. More details will be provided soon via a separate information flier.

Finishing Work in Area of Carlisle/Garfield
While Carlisle did reopen last week, crews will complete some finishing work on Carlisle from north of Coal to the intersection of Garfield and Coal during the week of May 2-6, 2011. Work will include pouring two additional inlets for storm drainage, pouring a retaining wall footer, a wheelchair ramp and replacing curb.

Lead Avenue from Oak to Cedar
May 2-6 – Remove asphalt paving

Lead Avenue from Cedar to Sycamore
May 9-13 – Remove asphalt paving

Lead Avenue from Mulberry to Spruce
May 16-20 – Locate underground utilities and install storm drainage infrastructure

*When drive pads are installed, residents may not be able to park in their driveways for 3 days in order for the concrete to cure. The contractor will notify you via flyer when your drive pad is being re-poured.

General Information:
Construction is expected to through spring 2012. Two (2) crews will be working on the project at the same time. Regular work hours will be 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday although crews may work later hours or on weekends if needed due to an emergency or unforeseen circumstance.
