New Mexico Environment Department Public Meeting January 12, 2011

The New Mexico Environment Department is hosting a public meeting on the Kirtland Air Force Base Bulk Fuels Facility Spill. The Environment Department will provide information on the Light Non-aqueous Phase Liquid (LNAPL) Containment Interim Measure Work Plan, dated December 1, 2010 and status of work to characterize and clean up soil and groundwater contamination caused by the fuel spill.

Why I Ran

I am your new City Councilor for District 6.

I ran under the clean elections process. I worked very hard to bring about clean elections, now we have shown that it works.

I have a strong commitment to community-based governance - I hold that elected officials are accountable to the electorate, not special interests.

As City Councilor, I will:

Ø Stand up for an open and honest city government;
Ø Work to make our neighborhoods safer by balancing traditional law enforcement with drug and alcohol treatment and prevention programs;
Ø Fight for better transit to address increasing traffic congestion and carbon emissions; and;
Ø Stand up for planned growth so that older neighborhoods aren’t subsidizing sprawl development

Rey Garduño is progressive in his values, passionate about equality and proven in his service to Albuquerque.

Born and Raised in New Mexico, Rey has lived in District 6 for over 30 years. He has raised his family in District 6, was involved in his son’s schools and ran two local businesses. Rey has spent a lifetime helping to make our community a better place to live and raise our families. Rey is endorsed by progressive leaders from our district and throughout Albuquerque because he has the experience we need and the proven leadership we can trust.
