Lead and Coal Construction Update

LEAD & COAL IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT
LOOKING AHEAD: CONSTRUCTION UPDATE
FOR WEEKS OF JULY 5-8, JULY 11-15, AND JULY 18-22, 2011
Creating beautifully landscaped, environmentally sensitive, neighborhood, bicycle and pedestrian friendly streets and improving storm drainage.
NOTE: All work is weather permitting and is subject to change without notice

IMPORTANT NOTICE: If construction is going on in your neighborhood, there may be brief water or gas outages while crews relocate lines or make adjustments as needed. If there is a planned water or gas shutoff that will affect you, construction crews will place a notice on your front door and will try to contact you by knocking on your front door. They will let you know when the outage is scheduled and how long it is expected to last.

Coal Avenue from Girard to Carlisle
July 6, July 8 & 9 – Install block wall fencing
July 5-8 – Install landscaping

Valley Gutter Tie-In Work on Coal
NOTE: Valley gutter tie-In work is being scheduled at specific intersections along Coal Avenue SE for the next three weeks. When valley gutter tie-ins are installed, access will not be permitted through the intersection for three days. Motorists are advised to use an alternate route.

July 5-8 – Valley gutter tie-ins are scheduled at Coal at Harvard, Coal at Cornell, Coal at Stanford, Coal at Columbia, Coal at Princeton, Coal at Vassar, Coal at Dartmouth and Coal at Richmond.

July 11-15 – Valley gutter tie-ins are scheduled at Coal at Wellesley, Coal at Bryn Mawr, Coal at Tulane, Coal at Amherst, Coal at Hermosa, Coal at Solano, Coal at Aliso, Coal at Morningside and Coal at Valverde.

Week of July 18-22 – Valley gutter tie-in is scheduled at Coal and Valverde and Coal at Graceland.

Installation of Ramps, Sidewalks and Headers
July 5-8 -- Ramps, sidewalks and headers are scheduled to be installed at specific addresses, including
402 Hermosa, 401-402 Aliso, 324 Morningside, 400 Sierra and 400 Montclaire

Eastbound Coal from Washington to Adams
July 11-15 – Remove asphalt, prepare sub grade and base course on roadway

July 18-22 – Prepare sub grade and base course on roadway, install conduit for lighting and traffic signal, install curb and gutter and repave median area, install fine grade base course on roadway

WORK ON LEAD AVENUE

Lead Avenue from Oak to Mulberry:
July 5-8 – Replace water services, install curb and gutter, prepare sub grade and install base course on roadway, install sleeving and conduit for electrical lines, install fire hydrant (Lead at Oak)
July 11-15 – Replace water services, install valley gutter fillets, install drive pads*, install sleeving and conduit for electrical lines
July 18-22 – Replace water services, install sleeving and conduit for electrical lines

Lead Avenue from Mulberry to Cedar:
July 5-8 – Replace water services, install lateral storm drainage lines, install curb and gutter, prepare sub grade and install base course on roadway, install sleeving and conduit for electrical lines, relocate water lines (Lead at Mulberry)
July 11-15 – Replace water services, install lateral storm drainage lines, install valley gutter fillets, install drive pads*, install sleeving and conduit for electrical lines
July 18-22 – Replace water services, install lateral storm drainage lines, install sleeving and conduit for electrical lines

Lead Avenue from Cedar to Spruce to Sycamore
July 5-8 – Replace water services, install lateral storm drainage lines, prepare sub grade and install base course on roadway, install sleeving and conduit for electrical lines, relocate water lines
July 11-15 – Replace water services, install lateral storm drainage lines, prepare subgrade and install base course on roadway, install sleeving and conduit for electrical lines, relocate water lines
July 18-22 – Install ramps, sidewalks and headers, install lateral storm drainage lines, replace water services, install valley gutter fillets, install drive pads*, install curb and gutter, install sleeving and conduit for electrical lines

Lead Avenue from Sycamore to Maple to Ash to University
July 5-8 -- Replace water services, install lateral storm drainage lines, install sleeving and conduit for electrical lines
July 11-15 -- Replace water services, install storm drainage pipelines and lateral lines, install sleeving and conduit for electrical lines, relocate water line (Lead at Maple)
July 18-22 – Replace water services, install lateral storm drainage lines, prepare sub grade and install base course on roadway, install sleeving and conduit for electrical lines

*When drive pads are installed, residents may not be able to park in their driveways for 3 days in order for the concrete to cure. The contractor will notify you via flyer when your drive pad is being re-poured.

General Information:
Construction is expected to last through spring 2012. Two (2) crews will be working on the project at the same time. Regular work hours will be 7 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday although crews may work later hours or on weekends if needed due to an emergency or unforeseen circumstance.
